We spent a gorgeous March afternoon with Jermaine + Steve at Washington Park in Anacortes, and honestly, it’s one of those sessions we’ll remember for a long time. The forecast had us watching the skies all week—it was one of those hit-or-miss Washington weather patterns—but we lucked out with a day that felt like spring showing off just for them.

Jermaine + Steve are pure joy, their love for each other is undeniable. The story of their engagement still makes us smile: they were out sledding together, and Steve popped the question mid-adventure. It was the perfect blend of fun, surprise, and warmth—just like them.

We love Washington Park for its variety, and this session made full use of it all. We wandered through the forest, made our way out to the cliffs, and of course stopped along the ocean. Every corner gave us something new—rugged coastline, serene trees, wide-open sky. The scenery was stunning, but the way Jermaine + Steve looked at each other was what really stole the show.

Steve is a photographer himself, and like many creatives, he admitted to feeling a bit camera-shy. But Katrina broke the ice early on with one of her signature bear hugs and some deep breaths to ground the moment—and after that, he + Jermaine were total naturals. Their energy together is so easy and connected. They radiated love in every frame, and it felt effortless to capture.

Toward the end of the session, we had a special guest appearance from their adorable pups, Lexi + Charlie, who joined us for a few sweet photos. It was the perfect way to wrap up an already love-filled day.

As a queer-owned photography team, working with queer couples is more than just work—it’s a celebration of visibility, joy, and community. Representation matters. Love stories like Jermaine + Steve’s deserve to be seen, documented, and honored just like anyone else’s. We are here. We are queer. And we deserve beautiful, full lives.

This session wasn’t just beautiful because of the location or the lighting (though those were both top-tier)—it was beautiful because of who Jermaine + Steve are: open-hearted, playful, and fully themselves. We can’t wait to photograph their wedding and continue being a part of their journey!
