Emilio + Nathan | Playful & Golden Engagement Session at Old Owen Barn, Monroe, WA

There are summer evenings that just feel like magic, and Emilio (he/him) + Nathan’s (he/him) engagement session was absolutely one of them. The skies above Monroe, WA opened into the kind of golden light that makes the whole world glow, casting soft warmth over the tall grasses and wildflowers surrounding Old Owen Barn. It was the perfect backdrop for a couple as kind, playful, and deeply connected as these two.

Meeting Emilio + Nathan in person for the first time felt like catching up with old friends. Their energy together is so naturally warm, they complement each other in the most genuine way. The whole session felt like a gentle adventure as we explored the property, wandering through sunlit meadows, climbing into the rustic barn, and soaking in the soft shimmer of the evening light. Every little look and laugh between them felt like witnessing something truly grounded and good.

Old Owen Barn is one of those places that holds history and beauty in every corner, but we were especially drawn to the open fields with sweeping mountain views. Watching Emilio + Nathan move through that space, hand in hand, sharing jokes, and chasing light was such a joy. After we wrapped at the barn, we headed back to their home for a few cozy frames with their pups, Jax and Duke, who we instantly fell in love with. Seeing their little family together made our hearts melt.

As a queer-owned business, it means the world to us to photograph love stories like Emilio + Nathan’s. Visibility matters. All love deserves to be celebrated, documented, and cherished—and getting to do that with two kindhearted souls like them is the greatest gift. We truly can’t wait to photograph their wedding later this year. Love these two so much!
