Cassidy + Kyle | Rainy & Romantic Engagement Session at Camano Ridge Forest Preserve, Camano Island, WA

Cassidy + Kyle’s engagement session at Camano Ridge Forest Preserve brought all the signature charm of a Pacific Northwest spring day—soft rain, towering evergreens, and trails lined with lush greenery. It was our first time exploring this beautiful preserve on Camano Island, and it immediately felt like a hidden gem. As we wandered through mossy paths and quiet woods, the drizzle only added to the moody, intimate atmosphere.

These two have been together for nearly ten years and are planning their wedding for the fall of next year. We first met them at the Whatcom Wedding Showcase back in March, where Kyle won our engagement session giveaway. From the very beginning, Cassidy + Kyle brought such a calm, connected energy—like two people who just truly get each other. They’re two peas in a pod, perfectly balanced, and completely at ease even as the rain came down around us.

Wearing matching black outfits and bringing all the cozy vibes, they embraced the weather with adventurous spirits and big smiles. We had a few clear umbrellas on hand (our go-to for rainy sessions), which added a sweet, cinematic feel to their portraits. It was such a joy to photograph their connection beneath the canopy of trees, wrapped in the misty air and soft light.

One of our favorite parts of the session was getting to chat with them about their lives together, their shared love of their dogs (fellow dog people—yes!), and the beginnings of their wedding planning. Even though they’re still in the early stages, it’s clear their celebration will be full of intention, warmth, and a deep love that’s been growing for nearly a decade.

As we made our way back to the parking lot, the rain let up—classic PNW timing. But honestly, we wouldn’t have changed a thing. There was something truly special about photographing Cassidy + Kyle in that quiet, rain-soaked forest. We’re so grateful to have spent this time with them and can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.
