A warm summer evening at Deception Pass State Park gave us that perfect golden light for Ava (she/her) + Brittany’s (she/her) engagement session. The soft glow of the sun stretched over the cliffs, the ocean sparkled in the distance, and the breeze carried just enough salt air to make everything feel fresh and alive.
Ava + Brittany showed up in outfits that felt so effortlessly them—classic white tops and jeans in neutral tones that blended beautifully with the driftwood grays and deep greens of the PNW coastline. They weren’t overly styled, but still looked intentional together. We loved how they matched without matching, like two parts of the same story told in different words.
At first, there was that familiar energy of “what do we do with our hands?”—a little unsure, a little self-conscious—but that quickly shifted. As we explored the cliffs and moved toward the beach, Ava + Brittany started to relax into each other, their connection taking the lead. By the time we reached the shorelines, they were laughing, moving, and sharing quiet smiles that felt completely unposed. The way they naturally leaned into one another made every photo feel intimate and genuine.
We wandered down the steep trails together, chasing pockets of golden light and catching glimpses of seals in the water below; a little nature magic that felt perfectly timed. Climbing back up was a whole other adventure, but even with the vertical trek, these two kept smiling and joking with each other. Their dynamic was filled with so much gentle affection and playful energy, which made every moment with them feel easy and honest.
Sessions like this remind us why visibility matters. Ava + Brittany are a proud queer couple, and as a queer-owned business, getting to document their love in such a beautiful place felt deeply meaningful. Representation matters. Every love story deserves to be celebrated—and it’s a joy to capture moments like these for couples who might not have seen themselves in wedding blogs growing up.
Ava + Brittany, we’re already counting down to your wedding next year! Thank you for trusting us with your story, we're so lucky to be a small part of it.
