Ashley, Drew, Tilly + Luke | Playful Summer Family Session at Northern State Recreation Area, Sedro-Woolley, WA

There’s nothing like a golden Pacific Northwest evening in the middle of summer, especially when it’s spent with a family we adore. Ashley (she/her) + Drew (he/him) met us at Northern State Recreation Area in Sedro-Woolley with their two little ones, Tilly and Luke, for a playful family session that was pure joy from start to finish. The light filtered perfectly through the tall trees, creating the dreamiest glow over the grassy fields as we documented this chapter in their family’s story.

We’ve had the honor of photographing Ashley + Drew before, they were actually one of our very first clients two years ago during our mini sessions! Coming back together with them now, seeing how much Tilly has grown, and meeting sweet baby Luke for the first time was incredibly special for us. This is one of the best parts of family photography: being able to witness love grow and families change over time, while still feeling the same warmth and connection that’s always been there.

The evening started with the most charming tea party. Tilly, who is truly a little bundle of personality and energy, brought along her own rocking chair for some adorable photos. She was the perfect host, pouring tea, giggling nonstop, and making sure everyone was part of the fun. Baby Luke, only 13 weeks old, was happiest in someone’s arms, perfectly content to just be snuggled and loved on. His calm presence was the sweetest balance to Tilly’s outgoing, adventurous spirit.

As the sun dipped lower, we wandered through the northern fields and trails of the park, following wherever Tilly’s imagination led us. She was determined to find beavers, leading the way through grass and tree-lined paths. Her curiosity and joy made every moment feel like an adventure.

Sessions like this remind us why we love what we do. Getting to reconnect with families, capturing both the wild, playful moments and the quiet, tender ones—it’s a gift we never take for granted. Ashley + Drew, we’re so grateful to have been part of this season in your lives, and we can’t wait to see how your beautiful family continues to grow.
