We recently spent the most joyful day at the A&K Alder Farm Open House in Skagit County, and we’re still riding the high! This September event brought together an incredible group of couples, talented local vendors, and the kind of golden sunlight that makes everything feel magical.


As photographers, we had the honor of offering free mini engagement sessions to couples who signed up—and we ended up photographing 11 beautiful pairs throughout the day. Between the laughter, the love stories, and the occasional baby goat or dog trotting by, it was the perfect laid-back way to spend a day on the farm.


If you’ve never been to A&K Alder Farm, this venue is truly something special. It’s one of our absolute favorites in Skagit. From the open field and orchard to the dreamy alder grove, we made use of every corner to give each couple their own little moment in nature. The whole property is so raw and beautiful—everywhere you look is photo-ready.


Each 10-minute session gave us just enough time to get a feel for each couple's connection. Emily + Braden had just gotten engaged and were absolutely glowing. Amanda + Conor brought total cowboy-core vibes with their matching hats. And then there was Melanie + Aly, whose love story left us speechless—Melanie proposed to Aly right at the farm, and we were lucky enough to photograph that incredible moment.


What stood out most was how much love was in the air. These quick sessions were more than just photos—they were little windows into each couple’s journey. And it was a reminder of why we do what we do: to capture real, unscripted joy.


Of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without the incredible team of vendors who helped bring it all together. From florals and dresses to lattes and live music, everyone brought their A-game and created a space that felt warm, welcoming, and inspiring.


To all the couples we met—thank you for sharing your love and energy with us. And to the vendor team: you made this day not only possible, but beautiful in every way.
